Project Brief

THE PROBLEM

01

The current Student Information System lacks a consistent, efficient, and usable user experience for students and faculty alike. Everyday tasks on the current site use antiquated design patterns, utilities, user interface, and processes. Current use cases such as adding/dropping a class or registering for classes are difficult and have affected students' academic career.

Create an intuitive, efficient, and student-focused course management and degree tracking system that reflects R.I.T's cutting edge innovation.

GATHERING INFORMATION

02

Current SIS Design Analysis

The current Student Information System lacks a consistent and usable  experience for students and faculty alike. There are functionality issues, an inconsistent aesthetic, and poor organization.

Pain Points:

  • Cluttered Navigation Links
  • Browser Dependant page navigation
  • Functional errors and error messages
  • Unbalanced Information Architecture
  • Little affordance given to users to anticipate tasks.
